F-1 Student Visa

Immigration Attorney in New Jersey: Student Visas

One of the very popular categories of non-immigrant visas to enter the United States for a temporary stay is the student visa. The student visa, either F-1 or M-1, allows a foreign national to come and live and study at an approved institution for a period of time. To enter the United States to attend a university or college, high school, private elementary school, seminary, conservatory or some other approved academic institution, including a language training program one must apply for and obtain an F-1 visa. In order to attend a vocational or other recognized non-academic institution (other than a language training program) one must apply for and obtain an M-1 visa.

At the Law Offices of Simone Bertollini, I have assisted dozens of foreign nationals wishing to come and live and study in the United States. If you require assistance or wish to ask questions regarding the student visa application process, please call me and schedule a consultation. Your specific circumstances may necessitate special filing procedures or could be better suited for some other visa category depending upon your circumstances. Consulting with a knowledgeable and experienced immigration attorney can help to properly determine the best course of action to fit your particular needs.

M-1 and F-1 Visa Applications in New Jersey

Typically, students cannot travel to the United States on the Visa Waiver Program or with visitor visas to study in the United States. However, there is an exception to this rule for recreational study as part of a tourist visit. Enrollment in a short recreational study program that is not for credit toward any academic certificate or degree is also permitted on a visitor B-2 visa.
